Jan 7th. Day 2 Key West FL
We had a great nights sleep on this ship, the room was really quiet and the bed was so comfortable the only shame for me was I still have a cold and was a little restless last night but OMG we are loving this ship. So this morning no real plans but we are in Key West Florida, now Colm & Tamsyn have never been before but will be coming here when they get off the ship for a few days and didn’t want to see too much so we got off the ship at around midday for a little tester we had to get a trolley bus from the ship as we had docked in a Naval base and we were not allowed to just walk off.
So the shuttle dropped us off at Malory Square and we walked up Duval Street and stopped off at Irish Kevins bar for a nifty and then we walked on a bit to the Garden of Eden which is a “Clothing Optional” bar BUT it was closed so we pushed on a bit and then turned around about half way up Duval. We had to walk back to the pick up point and we got into a queue which was dealt with very quickly, so in no time we were back at the ship. We decided that we would go straight to the buffet restaurant for some lunch and then change for the pool.
We had our lunch and went up on deck to relax, the weather has been great today in the hight 70’s and quite humid. We lazed around until it was time for the ship to leave and then we went back to our rooms to see the departure and then get ready for tonight, we are eating in the “Le Petit Chef” which should be interesting we sampled a little bit of this on last months cruise but only got to see the performance for the starter. So tonight the girls wanted to go to the show tonight and me and Colm didn’t so we went to the bar in the Eden restaurant which was a bit surreal. But just when we thought it was weird it got weirder when we could hear some bells chiming, all around the bar were women with bells looking and behaving so weird at one point one came right up to Colm’s face and done a very strange dance, it was all very strange. Then the girls turned up and we had a few more drinks before we headed off to the Petit Chef restaurant.
The meal was OK to be fair and the animated show is very different but its one of those places you only need to go once. After the meal we walked down to the “Club” for silent disco, this is hilarious you put on headphones and choose between 3 tracks being played by 2 DJ’s and then dance, the DJ’s were duelling to get the most amount of people listening to their tracks while we all danced and sang along to the songs very funny to watch. After this we were all pretty tired so went off to bed. A great full day on the Edge.
